Roby Steinmetzer (* 1960) is a musician and composer who lives and works in Luxembourg, Europe.
He studied piano and music theory at the Conservatoire de Luxembourg and the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles.
He mainly composes experimental and electroacoustic music, but also pieces for acoustic instruments, often transformed electronically in real time, as well as interactive sound installations, music for dance, video and games.
He also workes as a music applications programmer and Max/MSP/Jitter software developer.
As a composer and performer, he has collaborated closely with Ensemble Lucilin.
In recent years, Roby Steinmetzer has been heavily involved in the Fédération Luxembourgeoise des Auteurs et Compositeurs (FLAC), aiming to improve the working conditions of his fellow composers. He held the position of president from 2017 to 2020.
Steinmetzer currently teaches piano and computer music at the Conservatoire in his home town.
